Music and Poetry

Senior Year I had to read a book called Piano Player

Sadly, I only chose the book because it had piano in the title

There was absolutely no piano playing in what the author was saying

Just an abstract combination, understanding why no one else made the same connection

Music, Piano, Singing

I wanted to have a share with some meaning, at least to me

So I began to write my own songs

But I was really rhyming with no melody

Expressing my frustrations

Sometimes I didn’t want a melody

No singing, but saying directly with indirection

A story, a problem, a emotion I had or saw

Creativity seemed to be constantly on my  mind

I see a complex in a simple

Words themselves are like lego’s

And I guess I could just stick with trying to carve songs out of mediums of music

But I also love creating a sculpture of diction, tone, repetition, and rhyme

Yes, the love of one led to the love of another, but each stand alone

Music is home, heritage, where I learned the meaning of words beyond the definition

Poetry is the real world, a test of how I use what I have learned over the years

One from past did lead to one present, but both will be in my future
