Music Surround

In the darkness

I hear a sound

The soft strains of music

Comforting and familiar I reach for it

I feel the beat and rhythms around me

Soft chords, major, minor

They coerce me to play

Invisible hands coax me to reach

To reach for my flute, my saxophone, my voice

No matter what it never fails

Never fails to make me feel wanted

I need the music

I need it when I’m scared

I need it when I’m happy

I need it always

Never take the music

Never take my core
