Musical Beats

My eyes take in the blazing bright blue depiction in sight,

every hue sparking my beating soul on this magical night.

I can hear the drums and trombones rumbling and rattling

in the background, perfecting an appetizing rhyme with

the loud booms and sharp solos, how tambourines adjust

their sound, unraveling a steady rhythm to the bassline.

There’s the pianos stepping in on the scene, thumping a solid

pattern in poetic form.

Look at the trumpets escaping into a thrilling buzz and vibration,

breathing in the warm breeze filling the air.

The stunning saxophones dips in to a thrilling jazz,

painting the landscape an array of dazzling colors.

At last, the musical harps have hopped onto the spot,

plucking their strings, releasing harmonious tunes

in the spellbinding room.

My dad, Robert Lee Green, died in a car wreck when I was a baby. I graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor's degree in English in 2012. I'm also a visual artist who loves to draw pretty much anything in the world. I've been drawing for nearly 14 years. I recently published my poetry book, Life and Dreams in Poetic Words, and my autobiography, The Makings of Life and Dreams. My focus is to keep moving forward and chase after my dreams.
