The Musicians of the World
My eyes swiftly skimming across the page,
Admiring the ties’ connections throughout the bar lines.
I am fully engrossed by the stunning formations
of something as simple as a C major seventh chord,
Or as haunting as an augmented 6th chord.
My heart aches for the crescendos
The thunderous wave of noise which abruptly transfigures into a pianissimo,
The calm at the end of the storm.
Every dot, dash, and symbol embellishes each note in its own unique and valuable way.
Notes evolve into something much larger and more powerful.
Similar to the way in which jumbled letters create words, sentences, essays, and books,
from a note comes the development of chords, verses, songs, and entire musicals.
Music which can be sung, played, or heard; each in its own distinct manner,
stirring up emotion which fills the heart with love, or rips the soul into pieces.
One voice, one note, becomes so much more when placed alongside others.
Music is more than notes on a page,
Or the voices singing in songs,
Or even the instruments of all the symphonies in the world.
Music is a universal language, understood by all.
For this, everyone is a musician.
And the musicians of this world will never fail to amaze me.
