My Alphabet Poem
A is for atheist because I don’t believe in God, apples because my grandfather used to give me apples in the morning for breakfast and my best friend Alex.
B is for bananas that my grandfather used to make in to smiley faces for me, but it’s also for the ballet lessons I used to take.
C is for one of my favorite movies, Carrie and it also stands for the amount of cultural appropriation in America that I’m against.
D is for how I suffer from clinical depression.
E is for Elaina because it’s my first name but also my grandmothers, but it is also for the eating disorder that I have.
F is for fat, which is what kid used to call me in school and for what I call myself, my grandfather Fearonce and for feminism because I’m a feminist.
G is for how I support gun control, but I also support the second amendment.
H is for how public school was hell.
I is for the time I dyed my hair indigo, my dad Imron and for how I’m half Indian.
J is for my grandmother Jennifer and my best friend Jessie.
K is for the karate lessons I used to take.
L is for how I don’t like leg tattoos.
M is for how I like to learned about different muders watching Investigation Discovery with my grandmother
N is for my sister Nisha and how I’ve dyed my hair a total of nine times.
O is for how my Indian grandparents tried to oppress my black mom
P is for my philtrum(medusa) piercing, but it’s also for my premature birth.
Q is for Queens, NY, which is where I’m from.
R is for Razack, my dad’s last name.
S is for my mom Scherry, but it’s also for the stretch marks that are riddled on my body.
T is for Tyson, which is my mom’s last name, tea because I drink a lot of tea but also for how I want a bunch of tattoos.
U is for the universal health care that I support.
V is for how I used to play volleyball.
W is for the college I attend, Western State Colorado University.
X is for how my uncle used to take Xanax for his anxiety and eventually overdosed on it
Y is for hoe I have a yearning to get away from my family.
Z is for how I used to watch zombie movies with my mom and sister.
