My America (inspired my Allen Ginsberg's My America"
America I’ve observed your torture far too long.
America jury duty has showed me you’re guilty.
Don’t you know you’ve taken the stand more than a just a few times?
What flowery air freshener do I use for your stench?
Who’s heading the "Save the Humans" foundation?
America your politics angers me.
It’s appalling why the media isn’t trembling in fear.
America your news is entertainment and your entertainment is mind-numbing.
America I can see from the masses you spawn zombies do exist.
America you’ve done well to live up to your reputation of arrogance.
Every humanitarian angle you take up is a fad.
America haven’t you paid your celebrities enough?
Ask them to give up their money for organizations that take no action.
America tell your pride money is not a panacea.
I can’t stand your economic interludes.
How can you live by magazines?
Your well-funded obsessions and fake niceties disgust me.
Did your greatness start when you appointed yourself to police the world?
America your foundations are as corrupt as your penal system.
I’m still waiting for the power returned to the people.
America didn’t George Washington warn you against parties?
I can’t choose my president, most of that choice is already made for me.
Your government is slower than the cows you slaughter.
Your morals are lower than quality of your products.
Why can’t I get through the year without religious hounds?
America the anarchist is not your enemy, the atheist is not your antichrist.
America save the endangered intelligence and understanding.
There are no grounds for your ethnocentrism.
America England’s got you again by two pounds.
I’d rather live under decaying teeth than decaying brains.
America didn’t you get many of your starts from the British?
Your education reforms are nothing but talk.
Tell me when I can get through school without silencing my mind.
Don’t tell me college is essential. As soon as I go you’ll jack up the prices.
I won’t pay for a brainwashing session, why should I even pay to wash my car?
Drill drill drill drill drill empty boom boom drill drill empty talk talk talk empty
Why don’t you try walking to the Wal-Mart down the road, quit your whining about overweight.
America your models started anorexia supreme white skin started your skin cancer I’m sick of tanning beds near my cheap Pizza I’m tired of dealing with catty women all the brouhaha about women’s rights and all around me they degrade themselves every day t-shirts aren’t that expensive table cloth will do I guess Hooters wouldn’t hire you then.
America stop blowing smoke at me about education reform, aren’t you against smoking?
Surgeon’s Warning: Quitting Smoking Now Greatly Reduces Profits
Forgive me I’ve forgotten that’s just a façade, any businesses fund your recent blame-game campaign?
No Hilary and Obama don’t like each other no Bill is no longer the president no bush wasn’t the best choice for eight years no reverends aren’t perfect no McCain can’t shake insults no Ron can’t conquer the support no the elected president won’t keep his promises no we’ll never win in Iraq. You must have thought we could profit again like in World War II.
America you’ve integrated black and white.
It’s true that you’re graying, your skin glows green with greed.
Black Male. Teenager. Tall. Tattoo on forearm. Large necklace with a wheel dangling from it.
America give me a worker’s job.
If I adorned more make-up will you appoint me?
Spring 2008 I hated theatre. Teacher mostly.
Summer 2008 I hate everything but one. Teacher mostly.
America summer jobs are disappearing as fast as your fickle interests.
Won’t you carpool with me for job-hunting?
You’re a well-oiled machine America I adore your smiling face in the midst of failures.
China gave you a circle now you’re trying to circle China I admire your ambition.
America I cried when Caesar died for his ambition.
Rome will fall.
I’d best get some insurance.
America your blanket of safety is an illusion, I’ve tried to stitch the holes up again and again.
If I die in a car crash will my insurance rates still go up?
Let me just slip by with no insurance, I can manage it myself.
I need to see your license and registration please. Of course officer what seems to be the problem? Your insurance is expired I’m afraid you’re going to have to pay a lot of money to the state and pay more to get insurance.
America won’t you give me a reward for wearing my seat belt?
America I’ve seen the build boards
I need two thousand for the damages from the drunk driver.
Budweiser. Corona. Miller. Guinness. Heineken.
Imports greater than exports. Houston, we have a problem.
America don’t kick me out of your practical laws and safe borders.
America I couldn’t live in a world without your leadership.
America I’m humming a patriotic anthem. Save me.
Will you be my God too?
America Nietzsche told me not to fall for your spell.
Poe whispered heretic phrases in my ear. Whitman had the chair next to me. Emerson had a crush on the teacher. Dickenson sat in the back and carved the desk. Holmes Sr. was wanted by everyone. Thoreau was jealous.
America this was my classroom.
America this is what you provided for me.
America you’re my mother.
America you’ve made me take things into my own hands.
I love history but I don’t want to teach the youth, you wouldn’t want me anyway I wouldn’t instill upon them the right curriculum.
America I know there’s a difference between your version of history and the truth.
America everyone’s rushing here and there. I’ll only quicken my pace when I feel like it.
Have to get coffee. Have to get to work. Have to go to school. Have to get good grades.
Have to please the teacher. Have to graduate. Have to go to a good university. Have to endure bias. Have to get a degree. Have to get a job. Have to get a family. Have to live happy.
I don’t have to do anything. Everyone can rush on but not me.
America I challenge you to a witch hunt, go ahead.
America I’m tired of living on haves. Starbucks doesn’t have to give me a full Grande of whatever.
America I’m drinking down my mortgage payments.
I need to get down to business. Business. Hah. Business?
Will you help me get to that level of self-interest? Busy?
Tell me why expenses are so high, there are so many houses on the market, I can’t imagine there not being enough people to fill up these homes. You think I should spread the word around don’t you? I’ll use means of persuasion. Just hope there are no black neighbors, they’ll never want to move in.
America you’ve trained me well.
In college with a major slinking towards a career hating every bit of it spending green and peach bits of paper on feeding the monster and the magazine as per your delusion.
At least I don’t wear your blindfold.
