My Angel

Believe in Him they said

He will never leave you nor forsake you they said

How can I believe such a thing when the pain I see every day detests this?

Watching those I love and care about descend into darkness and despair

Watching as a mother falls ill, or a father dies

A wife is sick and can no longer feel the pain she tried so hard to over come

The pain in this world is everywhere

It seeps in every space, every household,

Every flower or sign of happiness is consumed by darkness and rage

He is a greater power they said

He will provide relief to the struggles you feel they said

I would welcome the relief

I would gladly give up my burden of pain and sorrow

Let the weight off my shoulders and feel free

But an answer, a solution never came from the One I thought would help

Instead it came by another

For eventually I was set free

I was relinquished of the pain

But the one who lifted my weights and pain was not the one they told me of

Not the one of this greater power

But a person, in pain and sorrow just as I was

A person who had more scars and pain then I could ever bare

A person that showed me true love and kindness

We saved each other from this dark world

And for the first time I felt whole

I felt complete

No emptiness or sorrow

No more pain

So now when they tell me to trust onto Him and to let him bare the load

I can’t help but think back when I needed Him and all I received was silence

Some may say it’s foolish

To give up hope and faith

But the hope and faith I have is not gone, only redirected

It is not with Him but it is with her

For she completed me

For she saved me

She is my Angel.
