My Angel

Dear Nana,

                I miss you dearly. It’s been years since we have talked, and somehow, I still can’t believe that. I’ve been missing you more and more lately. It’s crazy, I never knew you could miss someone so much. I really just want to talk to you. It’s amazing how much I miss our small conversations. I do have a lot of news for you.

                First things first, I went back to school. Yes, I am the first Melendez to attend college. I didn’t think I was going to do it for a while, nothing ever seemed to line up right with money, work, and living situations. I dragged myself out of the dirt, and I now have a 4.0 GPA. I can just see in my head how you’d be reacting to that. I can imagine you being ecstatic, but firm. “Amazing job, but keep it going.” I’m learning a lot and really dedicating myself to better my life. I know you would be happy to hear that.

                Secondly, this one’s big, I’m engaged!!! I am going to marry the man of my dreams on October 26, 2019! I know that you won’t be able to make it, but I’m going to save you a seat anyways. You would like him a lot, he’s silly, but smart. He pushes me to be the best person I can be. You two would get along great.

                Lastly, I have a book recommendation for you. You need to read Divergent. This book series really resonated with me. It is about a strong willed young woman that can literally do anything that she sets her mind to, it’s not easy for her, but she does it. I wish you were here for we could share books together.
