To My Assaulter
You may have not taken my virginity away,
but you took something more precious.
my innocence.
I was young, confused, and frightened.
You,
took my simple mind,
using it for what it was,
leaving me to think
what you did,
was okay.
You didn’t just leave bruises on my body,
you left the scars of the past to
spread through my brain.
I can’t forget you now.
I may never dare speak your name,
but I will tell others of your crimes.
One day,
I hope this is revealed in your eyes.
Nothing could be said to take back
what you stole from me.
I’m lucky you threw me out
before more damage could be done.
That magenta sweatshirt is tucked away in my closet.
It still has the yellow paint from the garage.
That specific moment I can’t let go.
However,
I forgive you,
I feel sorry for you
knowing that what you did will be with you
until a last breathe is taken.
I will cope,
and I will succeed.
You will see that one day.
