My Awesome Blackness

The color of my skin is awesome

even though the world is against me

an they are killing so many like me

but still my colored girls and boy  rise

rise like no other , higher than eagle sorrowing through the skies tying to reach the heavens

where lies our ancestors who have fought  to keep us alive

where martin Luther king marched on to the streets to share  a dream of equality

where on those same street colored girls and boys are being gunned down

where on those same streets my colored girls and boys body parts were found

from the  black markets

to the officers who were to protect us but has turned there backs against us

yeah you know those streets

but my skin tone is so awesome that this has only empowered me and my community

we are unique no one in the same

they may critique and through shame but still we rise

even though we may live in a world of pigmentation where we're put down and pushed aside

we still fight and march on to show that awesome coloration you try so hard to make us hide

cause my black is awesome and my black is powerful

from the different textures, tints, and tinges

to the different names we may call ourselves

yellow bone, redbone, mocha or even sweet chocolate

just as powerful and awesome as my voice you hear and the words you read

MyBlack is Beautiful...MyBlack is Pride and Still we Rise
