My Backyard

I walked into the backyard, early in the morning. My clean feet brush across the watered grass, I'm ready for a long day of plum eating, sailing, and climbing. Its lunch time now and my mommy calls me in She has grilled cheese and apple juice waiting for me. I run to the backdoor as fast as I can, I've been too busy sailing across the sea in my tree house to go in and get a snack. But as I'm about to step out of my ship and through the portal taking me home My mom stops me. My feet and filthy. She makes me eat outside, But that's okay; I'm closer to my mountain now. I'm done with lunch and its time to climb. My mountain has been throwing up plums all over the backyard And I step in one. The plum squishes between my toes but I don't even notice, I have a mission. I start to climb the rough brown bark And I make it to the top! I look down on my kingdom, its beautiful! Its almost dinner time and my feet are black with mud and sticky with plum. My tummy has been grumbling at me in hunger. I drag my feet to the backdoor. I see my mommy and I put my arms up so she knows I want to be carried. She picks me up and takes me to the sink. She helps me wash my feet and tells me that she loves me. Today I have sailed across oceans and climbed over mountains. I cannot wait until tomorrow, when I can do it all over again. Years later, I walk into the kitchen early in the morning And I look out my backdoor. I look down at my feet, they have shoes on. I look out into my backyard again. My tree house is gone and my mountain is a stump. I cant go outside and be the child I want to be. I take one last look at my palace beyond the backdoor, And I remember all my memories... My backyard, My ocean, My ship, My mountains, My childhood.
