My Being
A slow shiver crawling up your back
A turn of the head, an uneasy glance
An empty room, filled with too much
.
A devil on my shoulder, in my head
Shouting over my own thoughts and
Whispering, coercing, manipulating
.
A creature coiled under the bed,
Hypnotic eyes, a voice meant only for you
Asking you, telling you to stay
To leave everything
To be his
.
A mild-mannered tenant, quiet at first,
Now increasingly louder
Harsher
Less ashamed to be himself
Judgmental and sarcastic and too truthful
Less guilty when he points out your flaws
Delighting in your doubts
Unaware or unabashed
By the silent tears behind a polite smile
.
A substance, a slime
Pulling it's way up your throat, into your mouth
Tacky, sticky
Stronger with every word you try to speak
Trapping your words
Your thoughts
You
.
You trapped inside yourself.
.
An empty room
Filled with nothing
Filled with everything
Filled with you.
.
You can't see the room without them
You can't live without them
They are you and
You are them
And there is no separation
And there is no escaping
And there is no being without them
.
There is a want.
A want to leave
A want to expel
A want to be, to exist, to live
.
But there is no being without them
No living without them
Without yourself.
They are you and
You are them
And they are being.
.
They are me
And I am them
And they are my being.
