My Beloved

The iridescent grass still held the morning’s moisture.

Serendipitous clouds intermittently shielded us from early summers high-noon sun

And the Bijan Tree

provided an extra comfort which its shade could not explain.

A mermaid in summer's yellow dress lies in front of me

When she speaks, the world is placed on hold...

Then she pauses and catches her breath as the sea sighs its zephyr.

This gentle wind,

as it did almost two decades ago,

shows me once again

how beautifully and delicately dresses hug her physical being

and

how they flutter warmly at such privilege of being worn by her.

Today the summer season reveals how fall has knocked on the door.

Before I greet I close my eyes once more...

The sun shines warmer and dimmer

the wind still cool and brisk...

I see her again...

aqua blue eyes

sun and ocean bleached hair

yellow dress

and those silly purple aviator glasses that work all too well.

And the wind is warm again

The clouds come to and go

as the winds comb the lambent grass.

My eyes see this glow once again

and it is centered around her laying in front of me.

Fall is only three days away.

Your spring is only three days away.

I will never forget.
