To My Beloved Spook

You will forever be my friend, my partner. My defender.

You are my life and I was yours. You were my first love,

faithful and true until the last beat of your heart.

We were once one and now I am a half,

since you, my faithful companion, have left me at last.

I remember your scent.

I remember your sound.

I remember all the good times we had when you were around.

Never did I have to tell you when I was sad,

you just knew, and would just lick my hand.

You would look at me and wag your tail.

As I would look into your eyes

I knew that everything was going to be okay,

because I had you, my soul mate.

And even though I am not a man,

you are, and always will be, my best friend.
