My Best Mentor

Oh agony, sweet agony

How much I've learned from thee

The pain you brought, and lessons you taught

Are what showed me who to be.

Agony, sweet agony

You taught me how to be alone

And even throughout all of my doubt

You showed me where was home

So agony, dear agony,

Your reputation falters

But you are the best professor

And all your students the scholars

Agony, triumphant agony,

I know now who I am

I no longer doubt my courage

I need not a soul to hold my hand
