My Black People
My BLACK PEOPLE. Wearing handcuffs as bracelets.
Running from the red white and blue lights as they chase us.
Those same colors that represent our freedom and we stand to pledge our allegiance to the same colors that’s used by polices.
We’re so quick to say we shall overcome.
But then we’re partying and drinking have we forgotten about treyvon.
Or is he just another black man dead. Another brother in the street but we don’t care because we got our black and milds and our weed.
Screaming justice for honey! And we want answers but we don’t even know the words to the black national anthem.
We keep saying that the white man is bringing us down.
Saying they don’t like us because our skin color is brown.
But we’re the ones shooting each other over the colors of our durags
Every time a car rolls up we can’t say hello, but we say ‘yo who dat?’
Ready to fire away bloodshed on the streets.
And that’s yet another black queen left to weep
Because her son is gone and you’re looking over your shoulders.
Because you know that his homies are coming and it ain’t over!
So now you’re hustling but you need to be in school because most of your vocab is cussing.
And you think your friends are ride or die?
But they don’t have your back cause when the bullets fly
Then its man I’m gone and I’ve got to get home.
But these are the same brothers that was smoking your weed and encouraging you to do wrong.
Man where did we go wrong?
We had the perfect examples as ancestors.
But we took a left turn when we should have went right.
Cause we rather spend our time in the streets and running game at night.
This isn’t what they fought for. This wasn’t his dream.
How dare you dishonor Dr. Martin Luther King?
Calling yourself a black man when you’re really a scrub.
Because real black men ain’t out shooting and selling drugs.
Having kids now ain’t even precious because now when we hear the news the response is dang you pregnant?
We rather dye our hair and improve our weaves. But can we please improve our college rates and get our degrees.
Steadily saying free my nigga so and s, but he got 5 years cause so and so was raping women and molesting kids.
Too many of our black children don’t know their daddies; mom was young and naive ready to drop her panties.
And now he’s gone nowhere to be found. So you’re raising your daughters to hate men and rub their names in the ground.
My black people straighten up and fly right.
Cause while we’re worrying about our swag and having our skinnies too tight.
Other races are leaving and their jetting right pass us.
And we’ll be left stuck on stupid wondering….What happened?
