My Blind Vision

And so she was blinded even before removing her lens

She slept in the darkness to dream of her friends.

And when she slept she felt safe and at home

But claimed to forget and didn’t want to be alone.

So with them off she could sleep with her eyes open

But with them on she was nothing but broken.

She couldn’t see, she was blinded, sightless, impaired.

But going out without them, she wouldn’t dream she wouldn’t dare.

They showed her the truth they showed her lies. All through her eyes

Without them she was left in the darkness,

But would you rather be blinded by light?

But what would you do if you were given some sight? Well…let me tell you...

The grass would not be greener on the other side

And in fact like everything it would die.

The caged bird would indeed not sing

It would starve and be sad just like everything.

You would not compare thee to a summer’s day

And instead each day would just fade away.

So with her glasses she could see the world and the truth

Although vulnerable by its filth and its ruth.

She would much rather be left in the darkness of the night

Then to wear her glasses and by blinded by its light.
