This Is My Body
"No" "Stop" "I don't like that"
I've been shouting these things for years.
They're some of the first few phrases that every infant learns.
Even at touchy grandfathers, and scumy uncles, I've voiced my indignation.
This is my body.
I did no invite you here.
Even at the neighborhood kids, and pervish teachers, I've made my boundaries clear.
This is my body.
Did you hear me?
My parents say I'm rude.
They don't understand why I won't let my grandfather tickle me.
They don't understand why I sleep with my bedroom door locked.
They don't understand why I'm "so mean."
But this is my body.
Why can't you understand?
