My Brain- The One Necessity

Many people have one thing

One dear thing which they hold closely

But what truly is that thing

With which partying ways would be too costly?

For some it’s a person

Their mom or their dad

Their brother or sister

Whose presence makes them glad?

For others it’s a pet

A dog or a cat

Which is very loyal

One you could pat?

For me however

None is the case

I don’t need a person

Or a pet at this place

This one lonely island

Upon which I’m stranded

Will do for me

As long as my mind is exerted

I need a challenge

My brain needs to think

That is exactly

Why I do not drink

I need to make choices

They need to be sound

I have to be challenged

And still keep my ground

My brain is the one thing

That I will need

No matter where I go

My mind working at full speed
