My Broken Curtain

Location

Curtain?

What curtain?

My face screams agony wherever I wander

Between the lines of a soft smile

And the Gap in my two front teeth

I laugh, for the pain is too great

I join others because their union gives me isolation

And I weep.

The tears rumble from my eyes to burn my skin

Like acid through a tender cut

I am blinded.

By the soreness of my heart

And the wreckage it leaves behind

Each time.

I love you. I smile because it's true.

You deserve nothing of this, and all of anything else.

So I smile through the gap in my two front teeth

To give you the last of my broken curtain
