For my Brother

If I could ever talk to a star,

I'd ask it about my brother.

I'm sure it would tell me he isn't far,

Or tell me he's with his mother.

If I could talk to a cloud,

I'd ask it to let me speak to him.

But I'm sure it would tell me I'm not allowed.

Or that the chances would be slim.

If I could ever talk to the moon,

I'd ask it if he thought of me.

I'm sure the moon would tell me I'd find out soon,

Or that he makes it easy for me to see.

And when I see him in my dreams,

It’s the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
