My caged bird sings

I know why my caged bird still sings.

Oh how she wants to soar and fly and be free

Her spirits are broken, like her clipped wings

All she has now are her thoughts and so she thinks of trees

What  positive can be in her mind?

One would think she has nothing

But she had everything aligned

you would think I was bluffing

This little bird still believes there's more to life

She has no problem in letting you think she is an unfortunate case

So stop being full of strife

Because she knows her place

She gets up on her claws

And stands tall

Deserving an applause

Knowing she won’t fall

This little bird now stares and sings

looking into the mirror, back at me

She smiles and wildly wiggles her wings

I was that caged bird, but now I sing and so gladly decree
