My Chickens

I have sixteen chickens with a special name for each one

They are all mine to take care of and they make things in life more fun

Joe’s the first and my most favorite of them all

He’s got a great cock-a-doodle and I like to listen to him call and call

He likes to play with me and he likes to eat bugs

I scoop him up and give him lots of hugs

Emma is my next  favorite I like to eat her yummy eggs

She is soft and cuddly and has long, yellow legs

I have a lot more chickens from Maggy, Josey, Puffin, Pumpkin and Emily

I like to watch them scratch in the dirt and I carry them all around with me

I like to take them with me for a ride in the car, or make a special nest upon the roof or take them up to my fort or for a walk on the beach

They are good listeners and friends and have many lessons to teach

A few more of my special chicken friends are Doodles, Starlight, Ginger, Beauty, Rocky, Rosalind, and Strips, who lays me eggs brown and blue

And my last two chickens are Mary and Cheecky who I care for too

Each one I care for, each one I love for their special part

Each one a good friend who warms my heart.
