My Child

“I want a kid who’s fast!”

“My boy will have blue eyes.”

“My daughter’s hair-curly;

None will recognize.”

Go to a lab one day-

Who needs another spouse?

I flip through the catalogs

Easier than buying a house

Blond hair, Blue eyes and White

*with just a touch of black

My Boy will be so smart

“He’s custom-not off the rack.”

I check some boxes; fill out a form-

return in nine months’ time.

And here is my new baby boy

Wow-looks like a dime!

I paid for him…He’ll work for me.

Fulfill all my crushed dreams.

How could this go wrong at all?

Humanity-tearing its own seams…
