My City

Bang Bang!

Where am I from?

There is no safe place.

There is no happiness.

There is only salvation.

We were cursed as city.

Bang Bang!

Where am I from?

It’s a ghost town-

A death city.

To have fight for survival.

Bang Bang!

Where am I from?

So many people live on the street.

Drugs took over.

We’re in the belly of the beast.

Bang Bang!

Where am I from?

We’re the slung:

We’re the trash.

Can’t find houses that aren’t burned down.

Can’t find houses that aren’t abandoned around.

Bang Bang!

Where am I from?

It used to be beautiful

With people showing off their cars,

Kids running and screaming,

Smell of good BBQ.

Having a good time.

Bang Bang!

Where am I from?

People dying every day.

Brother, sister, mother, daughter crying.

A sight they shouldn’t have saw.

 What have my city become.

Bang bang

Where am I from?

You can See Canada cross the way

Fishing for bass

With Lake St Clair

Making the sky line gorgeous

Bang Bang!

Where am I from?

Where Motown was created

Different car shows held

We’re motor City.

Detroit is my city

Detroit Where is I’m from

It’s my home

It’s run in my blood
