My College Story
Hey guys my name is Jan Calvin and I’m applying for this scholarship to help me out with my financial problems in school. I’m currently attending college and pursuing my nursing degree. I’m a junior and hoping that this scholarship will take care most of the book and utilities that I will be using for my future career. Coupons are a big factor for students like me who are in need of money. It helps us figure out what’s important and what’s needed instead of what we want. For example are utilities for the house and bathroom is the most common instead of buying a new phone or a car down payment. Majority of college students usually gets their priorities mixed up and doesn’t get idea of financial aid. They usually take advantage of the amount of money that is given and doesn’t realize that they are in deep trouble. Coupons limits some of those problems, it gives us more reason to starts thinking about saving those money instead of being big spenders. Sometimes with the help of coupons we can even buy a whole groceries for the rest of the month, and the money that is saved can be used to pay our rent and even buy our books. It gives us more freedom on our budget to do whatever we want and spend the savings on other expenses. I have a friend who is a Pakistani and he gets coupons from the mail and on his email. One time he got a coupon from Carl’s Jr burgers and it was an unlimited burgers or a month, talk about a coupon, that saved him a whole month of worrying about meals, instead going to the mall or a restaurant spending 40 to 60 dollars a meal, he saved them up to get himself a new set of books for next semester. With the help of this scholarship I’m hoping I could also do the same. I usually gets coupon from the mail but its only enough to save me around 300 to 400 dollars amount for groceries and that’s for the rest of the school year. The coupons I receive help me pick out the things that’s needed around the house without worrying about the retail price like toothpaste and milk and even soaps. Those little things that we took for granted when we were in high school because we never really taught about them since they’re there. I also notice that it helped me picked out the foods that are easy and quick that a college student like me is really important. Like hot pockets and easy mirowable meals. I never really found time to learn how to cook so meals are pretty important to me. Instead of making food out of nothings I usually just eat outside or microwave something. Last semester I receive a newspaper full of coupons from market basket and talk about savings, it saved me 300 dollars worth of groceries, which I used to buy my mom and dad a gift for their anniversary. I mean if I save 300 dollars every time then I can use that money for other things for school like my lab fees and even help me pay for my tuition. The cost of nursing school is so expensive that’s why every little thing helps, especially books alone is about 2000 to 3000 dollars. Plus you have to buy your own stethoscope and scrubs! And they rarely give out scholarships for nursing students. So these scholarships will definitely propel me forward towards my dream job. It would mean the world to me if I win this scholarship. I mean coupons are one thing to save us college students some money but this amount of scholarship is another. It will cover my books, tuition fees and other extra curricular fees that are charged against us who are struggling nursing students. So please consider my application for your scholarship. Thank you and yall have a great Christmas.
