My Crazy Family

When you think family vacation, what do you view?

Ice cream, carnival rides, your family and you.

When I think family vacation, I flash back to August.

This was a crazy vacation, I’ll be honest.

It all started in the stuffy car.

Driving our way down the shore, boy was it far!

So we sang and laughed, had so much fun.

Until we realized, we were the only one.

See, my aunt, grandma, grandpa, uncle and cousin came along.

And they wouldn't even sing one song!

The car pulled into the crowded parking lot, seagulls screaming above,

My father exclaimed, “This vacation you'll love!”

We piled out of the car and into the hotel lobby.

The woman behind the front desk seemed a little snotty.

She gave us the key with a turn of her nose,

“Your room is in the suites section, I suppose.”

We all ran next door to where the suites were sat,

My cousin screaming behind us, why was he doing that?

The first night went smoothly, or as smooth as it could go.

We had gone to get ice cream late, we must have put on a show.

My cousin got a cone, remind you, he's only three.

That ice cream was in places ice cream shouldn't be!

On his shirt, in his hair, all over his shoes.

My father said, “Someone clean this kid! Quick! I need tissues!”

My aunt’s ice cream had begun to melt, as well.

Needless to say, this vacation started off swell.

Waking up early was not ideal.

But my grandfather was always ready for a meal.

His plans for that day included going to the beach.

So we all packed a cart, two towels each.

The beach was crowded, seagulls flew high.

The waves came crashing, much taller than I.

My grandpa said, “Come on Amanda, lets go in the water!”

So away we went, and boy, we were slaughtered.

The waves came and knocked over my brother,

Next went my dad, oh bother!

My grandpa was next to be knocked down so hard.

I waited my inevitable fate and stood with my hands up to guard.

Then came the wave, my family grew silent.

I was knocked down and pushed, boy, this water was violent!

When I finally surfaced, there was sand in my hair.

It was all over me, really, to be fair.

The rest of the vacation included big breakfasts and the carnival,

Which proved to be a very large obstacle!

So this vacation was my family in all their glory,

I’d tell you about the Log Flume, but thats another story.
