My Dad Gave me an Orchid
My dad gave me an orchid.
It was kinda pink,
So pretty and vivid;
It made me think.
My dad gave me an orchid,
He said "For you, my little kid".
I said "What a nice gesture!"
And he replied "My pleasure".
My dad gave me an orchid.
The orchid lighted up my spirit.
It brought an idea to my mind,
It inspired me to write.
My dad gave me an orchid.
I showed him my written poem,
He read it loudly,
And then bought me roses.
My dad bought me roses.
They were white, my favorite ones.
I only had eyes for them,
They made me forget about the orchid.
My dad told me to check on the orchid.
Instead, I looked at my roses.
Then, I went to bed.
And had a surprise the next day.
My dad told me the roses were dead.
I went to look at them.
Indeed, they were dry...
And I cried.
My dad gave me a big hug.
He said, "Do not cry, young one."
We sat down quietly.
And I remembered the orchid.
I searched for the orchid,
It also had left me.
Once again, I cried.
And so did the sky.
My dad walked around,
Just as I looked down.
Somehow my orchid bloomed...
My dad smiled, and gave it to me.
