My Daddy Had a Gun Case

My daddy had a gun case In the corner of his room One day i'll get in it Hopefully someday soon - I was always being told "Do not touch, do not leave a mark These aren't toys for little girls" So i sat with wide eyes in the dark - Mommy caught me staring once She told daddy right away He put a big metal lock on it But i still went back every day - As i started to get older My big brown eyes no longer shone I cried myself to sleep at night Because i felt so alone - Mommy and daddy started fighting my grades went from high to low Inside, i felt broken But a smile's all I'd show - I stopped visiting that old gun case It no longer brought me joy Just distant childhood memories But i see no purpose anymore - One day while everyone was gone I snuck about the house I searched for that stupid key "I know the solution now" - I ran back up the stairs With tears streaming down my face My hand clutched tightly in a fist Whispering "today, today is the day" - When i got up to that room The whole place smelled of dust I looked around one last time And crinkled my face in disgust - I took the key and undid the lock Cool metal touched my hand To my head is where it went On the floor, i did land.

I like to write poetry sometimes, nothing good just a way to get my stuff out there. Enjoy! Xx <3
