My Dark Mentor
My mentor likes to talk to me when I’m alone.
He likes to dress in black and speak in whispers.
He is popular nowadays with a lot of people.
He brings me back to the realistic side of life,
And discuss the hard stuff with me.
My mentor has been with me since I was eight,
Talking in the back of my head.
He talks about my pale skin in the shower,
And my breath in the morning.
My mentor comments on my weight
And what I eat,
Or what I won’t eat.
My mentor decides on my friends
And the clothes I wear.
My mentor has been with me since I was eight.
My mentor has stopped talking to me as much lately.
The pills make it harder for him to say anything.
My mentor only visits me when something bad happens.
My mentor now has a face,
Written across his teeth is his name:
Depression.
