To My Darker Sunshine

Dear My Darker Sunshine,

Through sun and rain, joy and pain,
I would give you my heart again and again.
If things went dark and you couldn’t go on,
I'd shed you light like dusk and dawn.

Then like a lion who stands strong and proud,
we would've kept our voices silly yet loud.
People looked and said “what are they doing?"
we noticed but it never stopped us from moving.

Your hair’s thick, long, black like a raven,
even though time had been short, you’re my safe haven.
I know this poem is lengthy and has simple rhymes,
but it’s here for you to know I loved our time.

I wish I said it then rather than later,
to paint a picture of my feelings like an illustrator.
So after writing this heartfelt poem,
I can say I’ve shared everything I owe him.

Love,
the girl who loved you more that anyone you had thought of
