My Dear Blanket

My dear blanket
Keep me safe
Keep me sane
Provide warmth in your square form
A comfort none has given

On my darkest nights
You hold me, hug me
Protecting me from outside forces

As my pillows are stained with tears

That are tainted with fears

You stayed while I laid down

To sleep with strained frown

You stayed when I lost my lover

Too much love went away

But you stayed as I laid down

I, poor in health
You, rich in heart
Inviting and welcoming
I love you
My dear blanket
