My Dear Confidant

I despise you with all my heart

But I know I can count on you the most

When I’m injured

Or humiliated

Or even overly joyed

I know without a shadow of doubt

Before anyone else can

You will rush to me

And blur my world

I want to hide you

Keep you for myself

Yet somehow you always manage to slip past my eyes

And show the world how much I need you

On my own I look out towards the world

Where everyone hold hands

And offer each other their shoulders

Becoming each other’s confidants

However here I stand alone

As you once again rush to consult me

My most hated but reliable confidant

My tears
