To My Dear Friend

Dear sleep,

With help from a feathery core

and some heavenly clouds

you have breathed upon me

countless new hopes

A health elixir

consumed through inactivity

injecting vitality into my soul

resurrecting dead ambitions

your nil hand never fails to pick me up again

For all that you’ve done for me

I’ve done nothing for you

In fact,

I have come to expect

your service without delay

treating you as a slave

without say

yet you continue to stay

Though I know you won’t see this

because I know you can’t read this

I still feel that

I should say

my time with you

my dearest friend

I shall never regret
