My Dear Pumpkin
I sit with her but I'm lost in thought
I actually do this quite a lot
She brings up a topic I know nothing about
I hear her, but sometimes I just zone out
Sometimes I wonder if it's wrong
I think I could do it all day long
Her facial features I find myself admiring
For a fact, I find her beauty inspiring
She calls to my attention
But I seem to be in another dimension
She says: "Pay attention to me!"
From my mind, I finally become free.
I look at her and meet with her eyes
Jokingly I say "Is this my demise?"
Her mouth begins to form a smile
I reciprocate it and we sit there awhile
She is my beautiful girlfriend
But she's also my best friend
Ashley is her name
But Pumpkin is her nickname
