My Dearest Daughter

My dearest daughter,

I write this letter to you now on February 8, 2018. I am assuming that this letter is coming years and years before you read or hear this, but I hope that my hopes and dreams for you remain the same. But I thought it would be near for me to write this down at age seventeen, so that way maybe you can understand just how long I have been waiting for you.
I am truly blessed. I have been given so much in this world. Probably most of which I do not deserve. But my sweet baby girl, I hope that one day, I can show you all the beauty this world has to offer. Miracles happen everyday, even every second. And I already know that when I hold you in my arms for the first time, this belief will become even more true.
I am so so excited to meet you someday. I am excited to welcome you into our family, and all the chaos we have to offer. I hope you love and care and show compassion for everyone you meet. I hope you appreciate learning and the power a strong woman can have with the right mindset. I hope you respect others as well as their ideals, even if sometimes you do not agree.
But most importantly, I hope you live each of your days, knowing that they are all gifts from God. I hope you do not waste your precious time on petty, insignificant activities. I hope you live your life fully.
Today, in my theology class, we were speaking about our values. One particular value made me think of you. It was “Accomplishment of something worthwhile.” Most of my classmates thought about leaving something behind like an app or a business or a couple of golden globes. But my mind went directly to you. I thought, “My accomplishment will be my child.” I will raise them to be so great that I will be proud to leave this earth knowing I created ushc an amazing human.”
I have such high hopes for you, my child. I know you will make me feel like the luckiest and proudest mama out there. I love you very very much, my baby. I cannot wait to meet you!

Love your mama,

Akemi
