To My Dearest Moon

Is it lonely up there,
watching lovers dance
while you stay frigid, frozen in place?
Do you wish your surface could be awakened

by the touch of another or by an action more

compelling than a burst of heat?
Wished you felt that familiar pull of gravity
pushing you to something else?
Wished to the stars that one day you

might find another just like you?

You bring solace to the lover who stays, patiently waiting

for the time of moonlit skin and tender kisses on warm lips.
Your solitude, a reminder that they are not the only one.
You remain still like the one who continues to wait...
My sleeping giant, tell me.

Is there another who watches you like this lonely lover?
