My Demon

I fear my pride, my pride is being crushed,

And my legacy shushed,

I fear it will never be told.

By this thing deep down,

And yet all around,

I fear I can’t escape from its hold

It ravishes all of the good,

And steals all that it could

I fear it will won’t leave me a thing

I can’t reach out a hand

Cause no one understands

I fear my heart is numbing

So what do you do

When there’s no one there for you

I fear only the demon is knowing

The demon in my head

And keeps me awake in my bed

And slaves me with my own gloom

But the demon welcomes me home,

Promises I won’t be alone,

And I fear I will be joining it soon.
