My Do Over

Love is blind

I can’t see what others see

I only see what’s on my mind

I met a girl, innocent and kind

She was somewhat like me

This is when I want to rewind

Back then I focused on school

She tried talking to me

I responded with no emotion, what a fool

She retreated with a broken heart

I couldn’t see what she was trying to do

And I thought I was smart

A few months have passed and I saw her again

I tried talking to her

Not as a lover, but as a friend

She responded but with a sad tone

I didn’t notice

I bet I’ll be forever alone

Two years have gone

I began to fall for her

Her reaction? There was none

I began to make my move

She didn’t feel the same way anymore

I thought I just lost my groove

I gave her a second chance

She turned me down

My heart, stabbed by a lance

I considered giving it another go

Until she found a boyfriend

Her answer will definitely be a no

The days we see each other

We trade glances of sorrow

I lost my chance, I’ll find another

No one else can outmatch her

I searched with no success

Am I an idiot? Yes sir!

I hope the day comes soon

Where we can be together

And look at the stars and the moon

If I met my past me, we’ll meet in a strife

Show what he missed out on

That would be my “do-over” in life.
