To My Dog

Dear Lulu,

Your features are distinct

Ears that stand tall

Eyes always on the lookout

Making sure I do not take a fall

Legs short and muscular

A shiny brown, white and tan coat

Maybe the cutest dog I have ever seen, but I do not wish to gloat

You think you’re the fiercest Chihuahua

With all bark and no bite

You probably do not signal anybody’s fight or flight

As long as you try to protect me, that’s all that matters

Love,

Audra Nelson
