My Dog Max

I fell in love with him when I was eight

Max had been the odd one of the litter

On that day we got you I could not wait

For him to come home and chew my slippers

My favorite thing was to watch him play

Mainly during the time of winter

In the deep snow is where he liked to lay

And then we would enjoy naps so tender

As the years have passed we both grew older

Now my sweet boy is a grumpy old man

And sometimes he gives me the cold shoulder

But he will always be my biggest fan

Although I know his time is soon I hope

We’ll have some years before I have to mope
