My Dream
You ask me why I write?
Well I write because it is my way of life.
It's my way to fight.
It's my way to keep my goals in sight.
It simply feels right, when I let those words flow on the page.
It lets the words I've been holding in out of their cage.
Then they take over me as they take their form,
As they forge their craft of joy, sadness, longing, hope, or of rage,
As they take the form of poetry, songs, short stories, or books.
I write to settle the conflicts in my brain.
The ones that involve the rushing of emotions,
that come up like the tide of the ocean,
upon me as I stand on the beach of my mind not running but challenging the tide.
I write to try to solve the mysteries of this world,
to try to get things straight in my head.
As thoughts twist and turn through the tunnels of my mind,
writing is the attempt of those thought to find,
a place to manifest themselves.
I write to challenge this world.
To challenge this culture so fixed on diamonds and pearls.
To ask why those are of such high value,
when the importance and ability of love, hope, and care is so undervalued.
If we would all just share,
if we would all just care,
this world would be fair and no one would have such formidable burdens to bear.
I write in the hope that one day my words will become reality.
