My Dream
Hospitality Industry is one of the fastest-growing industries in my native country, Romania, and there is great demand of highly qualified people and great need of innovative ideas to restore the national tourism to its pre-communism charm and effectiveness. I started thinking about the fascination and the opportunities which this industry offers years ago, while frequently travelling around the country with my basketball team and spending a few months every summer and winter in poor 2-3 star hotels situated in breathtaking landscapes in the Carpathians or at the Black Sea’s shore. Even for a teenager like me it was obvious that, despite the natural beauty they were situated in, the poor management of those places was undermining any chances of success. I decided I will study Hospitality Management and I will try to know as much as I can about every sector of the Hospitality industry and someday I will run one of those poor hotels and transform it into the welcoming place I would’ve liked to find there when I was a guest.
In the few places I actually enjoyed staying I was deeply impressed by the staff’s diligence to satisfy every need of their customers. I have realized the responsibility of their profession, but I have also understood how satisfied they are when their clients are happy. This feeling of gratification and even happiness was one more reason why I decided to study this business.
I am reliable and positive person, who enjoys challenges and never gives up. I realize how great my ambitions of managing a hotel are and how hard I must work to achieve them but I think it is most important to have a wish and the will to fulfill it. I know that besides all these qualities I must also have skills in order to succeed in this industry in which there is such a competition. Studying hospitality management I will acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to be a prosperous hospitality manager.
Since my childhood I have had an opportunity to develop myself both physically and intellectually. I’ve been playing basketball for more than 6 years and I take great pride in my team winning the 2012 National Varsity Championship in Romania. The skills I acquired by playing sports help me to be in good shape and this is very important to me because I consider any employee of the hotel is its face and should look impeccably. Sport gives birth to qualities such as aspiration to leadership and victory, diligence, firmness, persistence, self-confidence and motivation and possessing these traits can lead to management.
When I ask my friends to say something about me, they describe me as a sociable, creative, energetic and optimistic person, with a good sense of humor. I appreciate meeting new people; I can listen to them and be tolerant and tactful.
I personally believe that the College of Southern Nevada will assist me to successfully reach my objective to become a hotel manager. Everybody knows Las Vegas is the best place in the world to study the hospitality business and I consider CSN to be the place where I can obtain a high-quality education, under the supervision of world leading experts, and afterwards successfully apply my knowledge to practical work.
