In My Dreams
Is it sad to say I’m afraid to fall asleep?
I’m afraid to close my eyes and find you there,
Waiting for me.
I’m afraid that your warm brown eyes will stare straight into my soul,
Reading my every thought.
I’m afraid that your warm hands will touch mine,
Embracing and comforting.
I’m afraid that when I see you, I will fall for you again
Making the same mistakes as before.
I’m afraid that if I sleep I won’t want to get up
Because you’re there,
In my dreams
Where I can say I love you
Where I can hug you and feel loved
Where I can kiss you and feel wanted
Where you love me back
In my dreams
Where every night you wait to take me somewhere new
To explore our future together
To spend our short life together
To laugh and cry together
In my dreams
But I have awoken
I have opened my eyes and see the white ceiling I hate
I turn over and you’re not there
My heart aches
My stomach jumps
I realize that I’m alone here without you
Another day in loneliness
Better go back to bed to see you again.
In my dreams
