My Enemy

It's the kind of love that creeps up on you when you least expect it.

They call it,

unrequited love.

Like a one way road with no way out.

Like a constant bane on life,

slowly but surely sabotaging every relationship you will ever have.

Like a relentless dagger, piercing your emotions, your self esteem, your whole life.

Something you can't live without; your oxygen.

Like all your hopes, dreams, and aspirations shattered in the blink of an eye.

A feeling that last forever,

and disintegrates every last shred of self respect and pride you once held accustomed.

We throw the word of "love" around as if it's not gold; but it's identical.

The thing you couldn’t once live without, function without, now disappearing into all manor of in existence.

The worst kind that catches you unaware

and embraces you with all its might

and encapsulates you for all eternity in its excruciating hold.

The kind you can't let go no matter how painful.

Rejection has become so common its like the air you now breathe.

So alone.

Waiting for that something; anything to keep you going.

But no answer.

You realize that no matter how hard you try; Forgetting is unimaginable, and stopping is impossible.
