My Escape

Pages torn and frayed

The feel of paper under my fingers

I get lost in the words

The vividness, the scenery

That the author paints with words

They jump out

Surround me

Engulf me

Provide me with protection and security

I am no longer here, no longer alone

I am in a world unknown

I am in a book I know and love

And I do not want to leave
