My Escape

Writing is my safe escape from life

All the struggles, troubles, trials, and strife

When I need to get away from everything

I grab paper and pencil and make words that sing

The moments I don’t write are always the worse

All my feelings are trapped and like a volcano I burst

In a frenzy I write to get all the frustration out

And when I’m done I know without a doubt

No matter how long or how short the poem

As long as I’m writing, I’m home
