To my ex-best friend

To my ex-best friend,

You were killing me.

I didn't know it at the time,

but neither did you.

You gave me your life,

and it was way too much.

I felt as if I had all of the pressure of the world on my shoulders.

I was taking care of you,

while I should have been taking care of myself.

What kind of person sacrifises everything

for someone who wouldn't do the same.

You taught me the most important lesson

that I've ever learned.

And it was to take care of myself,

before I even think about anyone else.

Thank you for that.

Sincerely,

Your ex-best friend
