My Fairy-Tale

Once upon a time is not how my "fairy-tale" starts,

Cuz' once upon a time my people were bought

Regardless of the pain that lasted for 300 years

My people are still left shedding tears,

Now see, my "fairy-tale" is much more deeper.

There lies the African king and queen sleeping, peaceful

Their hair full and rich of natural ingredients

that cause their hair to stay healthy, radiant and to shine like the stars

do at nighttime right before you shut your eyes,

But see my "fairy-tale" describes a world of justice,

a world where I am free amongst the people,

a world where guns turn into books,

a world where hatred turns into love,

a world where color differences turns into the people becoming crayons,

a world where the body and souls of many become one.

My "fairy-tale" would never exist. Sad to say.

Now my African kings and queens, no longer love themselves,

my people have forgotten that we're golden,

my people have found a way to hate instead of love,

my skin has found a way to potray threat rather than knowledge.

See, my "fairy-tale" would end the ruthless engraved markings found on my ancestors backs,

see Cuz' , my "fairy-tale" isn't a "fairy-tale" it's merely a dream, an idea, a rapid thought

a dream that was dreamnt waaaaayyy before I had "fairy-tales" about becoming a princess,

trapped in a tower, waiting for her prince.

Now my prince is handcuffs, police rides to the stations, beatings by armed "public safety",

that I pay.

Nah, see "fairy-tales" are exactly "fairy-tales" they can never be anything more

My idea, my dream , my rapid thought . . . . they don't exist.

The world I live in today has made sure that my "fairy-tales" stay just that. Silent and dead.

Those who dared to dream my "fairy-tale" are no longer with us.

Apparently there are rules about "fairy-tales" now . . . and those who break em, get broken.
