To My Father

I checked my phone countless times that day.

You never called.

For the next week I was glued to my phone waiting for the day you would call to apoligize.

You never called.

I still kept my hope up for the next month.

You never called.

Each day I would tell myself, today is the day, he is going to call.

You never called.

Months passed and a a recieved a card in the mail from you "Happy Belated Birthday".

You never called.

Just a short impersonal letter.

Happy 18th birthday to me.
